Down with cockroaches

In Beijing, I learned today, street vendors sell roaches.

To eat.

How come the creatures we want to be over-hunted never are?

Like, why can't the good people of D.C.'s Chinablock create a roach demand so strong that they kill off the entire city's population?

As you know, boiled, roasted and seasoned grasshoppers (called chapulines) are popular on the streets of Oaxaca, Mexico ... so it could happen, you never know. Are you having a roach problem in your gorgeous new condo?!

Not yet (knock wood).

Why leave it to someone else to do? Why not start rustling up demand for cockroaches-as-food by asking for them yourself?

Wow, SKBK really comes out of the woodwork when roaches are on the line...

I hear the city's looking for a wide variety of street vendors. It's no longer limited to just hot dogs. Just a thought.

Fried roaches would probably taste better than most D.C. hotdogs.
